PORTO TRAVEL TIPS
– Beware of the Portuguese sun, as it is rather unforgiving for fair-skinned travelers. It goes without saying that a nice hat and 50+ sunscreen lotion are a must if you don’t want to become redder than a lobster after the first day. But be prepared that the sun in Portugal can be very strong even in winter!
– Did you know that all state museums in Porto are free every Sunday morning? Till 2 p.m., you can enter most of the museums completely free of charge. So if you plan to spend only a few days in the city, make sure that one of them is Sunday.
– Most restaurants in Porto have delicious bread, cheese, and olives waiting for you at the table. The bad news is that they are not free, and some restaurants will even count as couverts per person and not per table. If you are not in the mood for appetizers, don’t touch the snacks and politely ask a waiter to take them away.
