Weekend in Dubrovnik FAQ

Dubrovnik is an excellent place for a weekend break, as this small but very picturesque town is one of the most beautiful in Croatia. If you are looking for a destination with excellent beaches, warm sea, and breathtaking views, Dubrovnik is definitely a fantastic option to consider.

Unfortunately, Croatia has a very long rainy season that starts at the end of September and lasts till the beginning of May, leaving quite a small window for those who want to enjoy the golden beaches but don’t want to get wet (not by their own initiative, at least). The best time for a city break in Dubrovnik is the end of May or the beginning of September, just outside the rush of the tourist season. In July/August, the small town can get very crowded and very expensive, so the middle of summer is not the best choice for planning a trip.

Not at all. A car is more likely to be a bother than of any help in Dubrovnik. The city is quite small (and very walkable!), so the parking is not just almost impossible to get, but also is very expensive. If walking everywhere is not an option for you, we can organize a private transfer upon request.

Dubrovnik is famous for its spectacular city walls dating back to the 13th century. To this day, they are the city’s calling card, offering spectacular views and amazing photo opportunities. For a small fee, everyone can climb them and follow an old path going around the city. Going up there is one of the must-do things during a Dubrovnik city break, and it takes just about two hours of leisurely walking to make a complete circle around this incredible coastal town.

Yes, these cities are just 150 km away, making Montenegro a wonderful day-trip destination you can add to your Dubrovnik break itinerary.

The sun-kissed city of Dubrovnik gained huge international popularity after starring as the fictional city of King’s Landing in Game of Thrones, one of the most famous and influential TV shows of the 21st century. And not everyone knows that the city is a part of another famous sage – Star Wars.

The question is about a famous Game of Thrones moment and not about what you might have thought. The most iconic moment of the 5th season was shot at Gundulic Square. Look for the picturesque stairs on its south side. And don’t forget that we will be happy to add a thematic tour to your weekend trip upon request for those interested in learning more about the Game of Thrones in Dubrovnik.
