Absolutely! Compared to the Western European countries, the destination is a completely different and very exciting world. Treat yourself to a weekend holiday in Turkey and dive into exploring the local history and culture, enjoying the local flavors, and taking in some of the most spectacular views in the world.

The period between April and May, as well as September and October, is definitely the best time for visiting Turkey. The weather is warm and sunny (unless you are staying high in the mountains), but the suffocating heat and crowds of fellow tourists are gone, making it much easier to breathe and enjoy your time in this beautiful country.

Three days is the bare minimum you should plan for a weekend away in Turkey. Short breaks aren’t enough to fully explore the city, but a few days is enough to see the main sights, get the feel of the place, and fall all over the heels in love with the destination. If you can extend your visit and stay for 4 days in Turkey, we recommend adding a day trip to your travel agenda, so you can venture beyond the city limits and explore the gems of the nearby area.

Turkey is not just one of the most affordable travel destinations in Europe. It’s also one of the most diverse. Choose between all-inclusive beach holidays, a few days of hiking through the mountains, city breaks with exciting sightseeing programs, and many other options for surprisingly budget-friendly prices.

The country’s national currency is called Turkish Lira (1 TRY ≈ 0.055 EUR). While there are a lot of places in Turkey that are perfectly happy to accept payment in euros, not all shops and cafes are ready to do that. We strongly advise always to have local currency on you. As a rule, the euro/lira exchange rate is more favorable in Turkey, so you can exchange a small amount of money at home and the rest upon arrival.

A standard 10% tip will be gladly received as a token of appreciation for excellent service.

If we are talking about touristy places such as Alanya, Antalya, Istanbul, and Cappadocia, then you can wear pretty much the same clothes as you would on a tour of Rome or Berlin. The dress code only applies to visiting mosques and other religious sights – you should cover your legs, cleavage, and stomach. Shoes don’t matter as you take them off before entering anyway.

All visitors of the hammam receive a peshtemal – a thin cotton towel meant to be wrapped around waste for men and around the chest for women. You can wear your bathing suit under it, but the authentic experience calls for going commando.
