City Breaks to Spain

Spain is the very home of bullfighting and a place where unforgettable fiestas will greet you with the explosion of sound and color. It’s the birthplace of Félix Lope de Vega and Julio Iglesias, and the country that gave the world Real Madrid Club de Fútbol and tapas. The destination is a mix of colors and styles, of past and present, the country that never stops – Spain can be many things, but once thing for sure is that it will make for a one unforgettable trip.

“Any reasonable, sentient person who looks at Spain, comes to Spain, eats in Spain, drinks in Spain, they’re going to fall in love.”

Spain Weekend Trip Q&A

Spain is a marvelous country, and there is really no way to go wrong when choosing a specific destination to explore on a weekend break. If it’s your first time visiting, check out Madrid or Barcelona — both cities are superb choices that will surely make you fall in love with Spain. If you are looking for some more off-the-beaten-path options, check out Alicante, Granada, or. And if you would like nothing more than to spend a few days soaking in the sun and swimming in the warm, clear waters, head to Tenerife or Ibiza.

Spain is part of the European Union, so the standard travel rules apply for the citizens of the UK and Ireland: you can stay in Spain for up to 90 days in any 180-day period without a visa.

Good news for anyone thinking of treating themselves to a short break in Spain! For all travelers, with the exception of those coming from China, no proof of vaccination, a negative test result, or a COVID-19 recovery certificate are required to enter the country.

Unfortunately, it’s impossible to give a precise answer without asking for additional information about the preferred travel style, at the very least. Generally speaking, Spain is not the priciest travel destination in Europe and is, on average, cheaper than Italy or Germany. However, it is more expansive to visit than Portugal or Croatia.

On average, a 3-day getaway to Spain featuring stays in 4-star hotels and filled with active sightseeing will cost you around 900 euros (about 795 pounds).

As you know, planning a weekend break in Spain off season is a great way to avoid the crowds, inflated prices, and huge lines to see the most popular sights. The most budget-friendly months to go to Spain are February and March. While the weather leaves something to be desired, it’s the best time to get the authentic experience without overpaying.

All major Spanish cities are very card-user friendly. However, we always advise having some cash on you. Nothing will top hard money when it comes to tipping, plus small market booths and fast food stalls might not be so keen to accept payment via cards.
