LISBON TRAVEL TIPS
– We strongly advise you to always have cash on you. While you can use them in the city’s most touristy places, local shops, small cafes, and souvenir stalls accept only cash. And keep in mind that the official currency in Portugal is the euro (check out the best exchange rates beforehand if needed).
– Tram #28 is one of the most recognizable symbols of Lisbon, and most travel guides consider a short ride a “must” experience. We agree that a tram ride should be a part of your travel plans, but we advise taking tram #12 instead. It’s much less crowded, so you can count on an enjoyable ride, it also takes you around the city center, and its route is a loop, which makes it a much more convenient option for getting around.
